Rutte: This is not a NATO mission

NATO is not conducting its own operations to clear mines in the Strait of Hormuz, but it is closely monitoring the situation.

This was stated by the alliance's Secretary General Mark Rutte during a visit to Berlin.

According to him, what is happening does not concern NATO territory, but the alliance's countries are coordinating their actions. Rutte noted the important role of the French-British initiative, as well as the participation of Latvia, Lithuania and other countries that are helping with mine clearance without putting their service members at risk. The work is being carried out in cooperation with the United States. At the same time, Rutte emphasized that this is not a NATO mission.
