Iran announces strike on U.S. reconnaissance drone in Hormuz

The commander of the Navy of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Sardar Azmai, announced the hit on an American unmanned vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, IRIB reports.

"The IRGC Navy struck one of the enemy's unmanned maritime vehicles, hull number 5838, of the Saildrone type, in the area of the entrance to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, thwarting its aggressive mission," the state broadcaster quoted Azmai as saying.

The IRGC commander stated that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and under the control of Iranian forces.

"Any actions of a hostile nature will be stopped," Azmai emphasized.
