Explosion on a barge in New York: one person killed, two firefighters injured

An explosion occurred on a moored barge in New York, followed by a fire.

As RIA Novosti reports, citing the city's fire department, one person was killed as a result of the incident.

The department explained that the explosion on the barge on Staten Island caused a shipping container to catch fire.

In addition to the one fatality, two firefighters sustained minor injuries. The fire has now been extinguished. The cause of the explosion has not been reported.
