Trump reveals why he is not escalating with Iran
U.S. President Donald Trump, in a conversation with Fox News journalists, suggested that he is not escalating with Iran because of the upcoming midterm congressional elections.
"Maybe I'm not doing it because of the elections," Trump said, responding to a remark by host Laura Ingraham that "even the neoconservatives say that if you're going to intervene, then go all in."
Trump made this statement on the sidelines of the Republican convention in Texas.
Recall that the midterm congressional elections are scheduled for November 3. U.S. residents will have to determine the new composition of the House of Representatives and the fate of 33 Senate seats. At the moment, the parliament is controlled by the Republicans.
