Seven people killed in prison fire in Syria

A fire broke out at the Ain al-Arab prison on the outskirts of Aleppo, Syria, killing seven people.

According to the information, dozens of people were poisoned by combustion products.

The fire occurred amid unrest staged by some of the inmates held at the facility. It is noted that the prisoners set fire to the prison building, and the flames spread to several residential sections.

The riot was triggered by clashes between young people and police forces that swept the city the day before over the killing of a Kurdish youth.

SANA does not rule out that the death toll may rise.
