Iran shoots down U.S. drone over the Strait of Hormuz

The air defense forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of Iran's armed forces) shot down a U.S. MQ-1 drone in the skies over the Strait of Hormuz.

This was reported by the IRGC press service.

"A few minutes ago, an advanced MQ-1 drone was detected and destroyed by the newest air defense system of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps," the statement said.

According to the press service, the incident occurred in the skies over the Strait of Hormuz.
