Russian Foreign Ministry comments on the fate of the military base in Armenia
No requests have been received regarding the withdrawal of the Russian military base from Armenia, and it is difficult to imagine French service members here, if only because of the geographical distance.
This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
According to Galuzin, Moscow proceeds from the premise that the Russian military base is an important element of the security architecture of Armenia and the South Caucasus. At the same time, no real alternative to it is yet in sight.
Russia, for its part, is ready to discuss the continuation of cooperation with Armenia in the sphere of defense and security, including within the framework of the “inventory” of bilateral relations proposed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
