Lavrov is confident that Russia will secure the return of its gold and foreign exchange reserves from Western countries
The European Commission wants to confiscate Russian assets, but Moscow will secure the return of its gold and foreign exchange reserves, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated.
“The European Commission still wants to confiscate these assets and then return them to us only after we pay Ukraine certain reparations. We will secure the return of our gold and foreign exchange reserves, I have no doubt about it whatsoever,” the minister emphasized.
He noted that the European Union is inventing grounds to remove Russian assets from Belgium’s jurisdiction, calling this a “criminal attempt” to organize collective complicity.
“In the European Union, they are inventing various quasi-legal grounds not only to justify what is essentially theft, but also to remove these funds from Belgian jurisdiction, because the Belgian prime minister categorically refuses to do anything toward their confiscation, and that is exactly what the European Union leadership wants, and they want to transfer them to some account that will be an all-EU account rather than a Belgian one. This is an absolutely blatant criminal attempt to share responsibility, to organize collective complicity,” he noted.
