Kobakhidze promises to eradicate Russophobia in Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has promised to nip in the bud all anti-Russian sentiments that the radical opposition is instilling in citizens.

He made the statement on the air of the Rustavi-2 television channel.

"Historically, we are famous for our hospitality, our tolerant attitude toward foreigners... Xenophobia in general and Russophobia in particular is the darkest phenomenon one can imagine," Kobakhidze said.

According to the prime minister, the people who promote Russophobia in Georgia have two goals: creating political and economic problems, as well as provoking escalation. The country will continue to fight manifestations of Russophobia at their root, but at the same time will pursue a "pragmatic and... principled policy toward Russia," Irakli Kobakhidze noted.
