Georgia appoints new ambassador to Azerbaijan
Giorgi Zakarashvili has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
This is stated on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
It is noted that G. Zakarashvili worked for many years in various positions in the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and in the country's diplomatic missions.
Since 2021, he has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine, as well as Permanent Representative of Georgia to GUAM.
In 2016–2019, Zakarashvili served as Minister-Counselor of the Georgian Interests Section at the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in the Russian Federation. In 2012–2016, he worked as Minister-Counselor at the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine and at the Permanent Mission of Georgia to GUAM.
At various times, Giorgi Zakarashvili also held the positions of Director of the Political Department and head of the department for relations with the countries of Central Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
