The Kremlin has announced Putin's address regarding the elections

Russian President Vladimir Putin will deliver a video address to Russians on the occasion of the upcoming State Duma elections.

This was announced by the Russian leader's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, at a briefing.

According to him, Putin plans to address the country's citizens on September 16 at 6:00 p.m. Moscow time. The Kremlin representative did not provide any other details.

The elections of State Duma deputies will be held from September 18 to 20, 2026. Following the three-day vote, 450 deputy mandates will be distributed. Ten parties will take part in the elections, including United Russia, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, A Just Russia, New People and others.

The chairwoman of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, called the upcoming election campaign the most difficult in recent years. According to her, the entire upcoming electoral cycle will require unprecedented attention to the organization of the process — from logistics at polling stations to ensuring legitimacy amid growing external and internal challenges.

The main difference of the 2026 elections will be that residents of Russia's new regions — the DPR, the LPR, and the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions — will take part in the vote. In connection with this, the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation carried out a revision of boundaries and the distribution of electoral districts.
