Ukrainian drones knock out two more Russian refineries
Two Rosneft oil refineries — the Syzran and Saratov plants — have halted fuel production because of damage inflicted by drones, Reuters reports, citing industry sources. Their combined capacity exceeds 15 million tons per year.
The Saratov refinery, which produces 1.2 million tons of gasoline and 1.9 million tons of diesel annually, came to a complete stop on September 11. The Syzran plant, which turns out about 800,000 tons of gasoline and 1.5 million tons of diesel, ceased operations on September 15.
At the Syzran facility, the main crude processing unit AVT-6, which accounts for 71% of the plant's capacity, was damaged. Its repair may take about a month. The second unit was already idle following an attack in July.
The Saratov refinery was hit by drones for the second time in September and the third time since the beginning of August. Last month it also halted operations for several weeks because of damage and fires. Since September 6, Rosneft's largest plant — the Ryazan refinery, which supplies fuel to the Moscow region — has also been idle.
