"No social media before 13": The European Union prepares a large-scale reform for teenagers

The European Commission (EC) will propose a new Kids Act, providing for a complete ban on the use of social networks for children under 13.

This was stated by EC President Ursula von der Leyen during a speech in the European Parliament, RIA Novosti writes.

"No social media before 13. No personal accounts before 15," von der Leyen said.

She explained that from the ages of 13 to 15, only mini-accounts created and controlled by parents or guardians, with limited functionality and usage time, will be allowed. The proposal was prepared after consultations with experts and young people, as well as a study of the experience of other countries.
