Number of missing after flooding in Nepal exceeds 6,000 people - PHOTO

The list of those missing after the devastating flood in Nepal at the end of August has grown by another thousand people.

This was reported on Thursday to the EFE agency by the press secretary of the National Disaster Management Authority, Shanti Mahat.

According to her, the list was updated after authorities received more detailed information from remote villages located in the affected areas. She noted that the list currently includes 6,150 people.

Mahat added that "the authority still does not have complete data on the missing, and the list may continue to grow." At the same time, DNA testing may help identify the deceased, which is why the list could also shrink.

As a result of the flood, which occurred in Nepal on August 26, 1,400 people died, and the remains of 520 people were partially preserved.

The flood occurred after the collapse of a high-altitude glacier in Nepal. The avalanche of ice, rocks, and mud also affected the border zone of China, where, according to Chinese authorities, 43 people died and 519 are listed as missing, of whom 261 are foreigners from 23 countries.
