Author of the scandalous theory about Brigitte Macron's gender dies in France
Natacha Rey, an independent researcher who gained notoriety for her publications about Brigitte Macron, has died in France, Faits & Documents reports.
Rey's death was announced by journalist Xavier Poussard, with whom she collaborated. According to him, in recent years the woman had been battling cancer. At the same time, she was involved in several court proceedings.
Rey became widely known after spreading claims that the wife of the French president, Brigitte Macron, was allegedly born male under the name Jean-Michel Trogneux. These statements led to lawsuits from the presidential couple. The Élysée Palace has repeatedly denied such claims.
In September 2024, a Paris court found Rey guilty of defamation and ordered her to pay 13,500 euros. However, in July 2025, the Paris Court of Appeal reviewed that decision and acquitted the journalist in the case.
The story received international resonance. In particular, American journalist Candace Owens also stated that she had evidence supporting the claims about Brigitte Macron's origins.
