Ilham Aliyev receives the head of Brookfield Asset Management
On September 25, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Connor Teskey, Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Asset Management, one of the world's leading investment companies.
During the meeting, the head of state's meeting with Connor Teskey held in Davos in January of this year was noted with satisfaction. The importance of the memorandum of intent on long-term strategic cooperation signed between the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and Brookfield Asset Management was also noted.
The meeting discussed issues of expanding investment cooperation between Azerbaijan and the company, in particular potential projects in the areas of energy transition, renewable energy, energy storage systems, and digital infrastructure. The significance of Azerbaijan's energy potential in strengthening the country's position as a regional energy center was noted.
It should be noted that Brookfield, whose assets under management exceed 1 trillion US dollars, is one of the world's largest owners and operators of real assets in the fields of energy, telecommunications, digital infrastructure, transport, and other areas. The company's infrastructure platform includes more than 308,000 telecommunications facilities, 77,000 kilometers of fiber-optic networks, 150 data processing centers, 36,300 kilometers of railway networks, and 3,200 kilometers of toll roads. The company's utility infrastructure enterprises serve more than 10 million consumers worldwide.
