Meloni thanked Aliyev after SOCAR's decision to cap fuel prices in Italy

Following Eni, Azerbaijan's state company SOCAR has decided to set ceiling prices for gasoline and diesel fuel at the network of its subsidiary Italiana Petroli (IP).

The decision was commented on by the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni.

"Following Eni, IP has also decided to cap fuel prices throughout the country. This is an important sign of attention to Italian families and a confirmation that it is possible to make a concrete contribution to curbing the high cost of fuel," she said.

Meloni thanked the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the President of SOCAR, Rovshan Najaf, noting that this step strengthens cooperation between the two countries.

SOCAR reported that the price ceiling will be introduced in stages, starting with the IP network. The size of the cap will be determined taking into account the need to maintain the sustainability of the supply chain, which involves thousands of operators.

The company emphasized that in this way it is responding to the Italian government's call to support families and businesses amid high fuel prices and instability in global energy markets.

Earlier, Eni set the maximum price for diesel fuel at 2.19 euros per liter, and for gasoline at 1.99 euros per liter.
