Parties to the Mecca agreement will establish a secretariat in Riyadh
The countries participating in the Mecca agreement plan to establish a permanent secretariat of the organization in the coming weeks, which is to be located in Riyadh.
This was reported by the American portal Al-Monitor, citing sources.
The creation of the secretariat is to become the first step toward forming the institutions of the agreement. The first stage of formalizing the Mecca agreements also provides for the creation of a joint headquarters of the countries participating in the treaty.
As the portal notes, technical arrangements on forming the structure of the agreement were reached during a meeting of the chiefs of the general staffs of the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan on September 25.
The Mecca agreement was signed on August 7 by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. It stipulates that an attack on one of the countries will be regarded as aggression against all parties to the agreement.
