The 13th trilateral meeting of the defense ministers of Azerbaijan, Zakir Hasanov, Turkey, Yashar Guler, and Georgia, Irakli Chikovani, was held in Shusha.
As Z. Hasanov stated, the trilateral format of cooperation between Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey has turned into a successful mechanism of regional cooperation that can already serve as an example for other countries and makes a great contribution to the cause of peace, security, and stability.
At the meeting, it was noted that the peoples of the three countries have lived for centuries in conditions of good-neighborliness and friendship, and that today the ties between them are developing along an ascending line. It was emphasized that cooperation based on mutual trust is of great importance from the standpoint of ensuring the well-being of the peoples.
The need to join efforts in combating the challenges of our time, as well as factors that may pose a threat to regional security, was noted.
The ministers particularly emphasized the importance of expanding the scope of trilateral exercises and training.
Confidence was expressed that the expansion of trilateral cooperation in the field of defense will be useful not only for these countries, but also for strengthening peace, stability, and security in the region as a whole.
The sides emphasized the importance of the joint exercises “Eternity,” “Caucasian Eagle,” and other exercises involving servicemen of the three countries, once again noting that these events play an important role in cooperation, the exchange of experience, and enhancing the defense capability of their armies.
At the same time, the ministers discussed cooperation in the military, military-technical, military-educational, and military-medical spheres, holding a detailed exchange of views on proposals regarding the prospects for expanding trilateral ties, as well as on other issues of mutual interest.
