Riyadh Criticizes Iran's Strikes on Nakhchivan: No Justification for Tehran's Hostile Course

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia has condemned Iran's drone strikes on Azerbaijan today, as well as yesterday's incident involving a downed Iranian UAV in Turkish airspace.

This was reported by Report, citing the Ministry of the Kingdom.

"These cowardly actions against two countries, as well as Iran's repeated brazen behavior towards states in the region, demonstrate Tehran's hostile course, which has no justification under any circumstances. This also clearly contradicts international law, norms, and principles of good neighborliness, leading to further escalation," the statement said.

In Riyadh, it was emphasized that they stand in full solidarity with Azerbaijan and Turkey, their governments, and peoples. The Saudi side also affirmed the right of both countries to protect their security, airspace, territorial integrity, and citizens, highly appreciating the efforts they are making to prevent escalation and maintain stability in the region.

As a reminder, on March 5, unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iranian territory attacked targets in Nakhchivan. One of the drones crashed into the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, and the second fell near a school building in the village of Shekerabad. As a result of the airport attack, two civilians were injured. The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilu, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
