Trial Begins in Azerbaijan for Individuals Accused of Planning Terrorist Attack on Foreign Embassy

In the Baku Court for Serious Crimes, a preparatory hearing was held on the criminal case initiated by the State Security Service (SGB) against Ilgar Guliyev, Amin Piriyev, and Elvin Alizade, who are accused of preparing a terrorist attack on the embassy of a foreign state in Azerbaijan.

As reported by APA, during the session chaired by Judge Babek Panahov, the personal details of the accused were verified.

The court decided to proceed with the trial of the criminal case. The hearing is scheduled for March 18.

It should be noted that during operational and investigative measures conducted by the State Security Service (SGB), reasonable suspicions arose that citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan—Ilgar Ilham oglu Guliyev, born in 2000, nicknamed 'Abu Zar al-Muhajir,' Amin Elshad oglu Piriyev, born in 2005, nicknamed 'Abdurashid,' and Elvin Sanan oglu Alizade, born in 2005, nicknamed 'Abdurrahman al-Azeri'—were preparing to carry out a terrorist attack on the embassy of a foreign state in Baku, motivated by religious enmity.

The aforementioned individuals, who had entered into criminal relations with members of the armed group 'Vilayati-Khorasan' of the terrorist organization ISIS, as a group of persons who had previously conspired, acquired items used as weapons to carry out the terrorist attack on the embassy of a foreign state in the Republic of Azerbaijan. They were detained by SGB officers while approaching the location of the embassy.

Ilgar Guliyev, Amin Piriyev, and Elvin Alizade were charged under Articles 28, 214.2.1, 28, 214.2.3, and 28, 214.2.6 (preparation for terrorism based on religious enmity by a group of persons who had previously conspired, using items employed as weapons) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. By court decision, a measure of restraint in the form of detention was applied to them.
