Macron Discusses Regional Situation with Pezeshkian
The Presidents of France and Iran, Emmanuel Macron and Masoud Pezeshkian, have agreed to maintain contact.
French leader Macron wrote about this on X following a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart.
"We agreed to stay in contact," Macron wrote.
Macron noted that the safety and return to France of Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, who are currently on the territory of the French embassy, remain an absolute priority for Paris.
He also emphasized the need for Iran to immediately cease strikes on countries in the region and urged Tehran to ensure freedom of navigation by ending the de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
The French President expressed serious concern about the development of Iran's nuclear and ballistic programs, as well as its destabilizing activities in the region, which, according to him, have caused the current crisis.
Macron stated that to address these challenges, halt escalation, and preserve peace, a diplomatic path is more necessary than ever.
