Pashinyan: The Best Guarantee of Security is Peace
The best guarantee of security is peace.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, during a briefing with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, on March 11 in Strasbourg.
Responding to a question about cooperation with the EU on security issues, Pashinyan recalled that Armenia collaborates with European countries on this matter, for example, with France. Additionally, through the European Peace Facility, Armenia has received assistance from the EU on two occasions. According to the Prime Minister, work is also being carried out in the context of the recently established peace with Azerbaijan, including opportunities to expand cooperation in the field of infrastructure.
Pashinyan noted that when people talk about 'security,' they often think of weapons, the army, special services, and so on. 'For more than 30 years, we have lived with this perception. The main issue and change in perception, which we are discussing in Armenia, is about security guarantees. For me, it is obvious that the most important guarantee is peace. On a secondary level, it is cooperation, interconnectedness, economic collaboration, and mutual benefit,' stated Nikol Pashinyan.
