Trump urges Iran not to charge fees for passage through Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump stated on April 9 that Iran should not charge fees for tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
"There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. It would be better if this were not the case. And if it is, they had better stop right now," the American leader wrote on Truth Social.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on April 8 that the US opposes Iran charging fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, but the possibility of Washington and Tehran doing so jointly will be discussed in the coming two weeks.
