USA and Iran are sincerely committed to the issue of truce, believes Hakan Fidan

Washington and Tehran are sincerely committed to the issue of a truce, stated Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan following negotiations in Pakistan between representatives of the two countries.

"During the negotiations, the parties essentially outlined their initial positions. This is normal, as initial positions always cause issues. Then, with the support of mediators, they will attempt to bring them closer at some point, the main thing being that this helps achieve and maintain a truce. As far as I can see, at the moment both sides are sincerely committed to a truce," Fidan told the Anadolu agency.

On April 11, Iran and the USA held several rounds of negotiations in Islamabad. The Iranian delegation was led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and the American delegation by Vice President JD Vance. As later reported in Tehran and Washington, the parties failed to reach an agreement on the issue of long-term conflict resolution due to a number of contradictions. Details of a possible new round of negotiations remain unknown.
