Iran assesses damage from US and Israel bombings at 270 billion dollars

Iran assesses the damage from bombings by the US and Israel at 270 billion dollars, official government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani told RIA Novosti in an interview.

"Preliminary and very rough figures indicate damage to date amounting to 270 billion dollars," she said.

According to Mohajerani, the government's economic team will determine more accurate figures through a multi-stage procedure. The first stage involves assessing damage directly to buildings; the second stage analyzes budget revenue losses and the consequences of industrial facilities ceasing operations.

The agency’s interlocutor added that the issue of military reparations to Iran from the United States is one of the topics being handled by the Iranian negotiating team. This issue, in particular, was discussed at recent talks in Islamabad.

"We will definitely defend the rights of our people through legal methods, and this includes compensation for the blood of our loved ones shed at the Minab school," Mohajerani said.

Following the negotiations between Iran and the US held last weekend in Pakistan, Tehran stated that the delegations failed to reach agreement on several key issues.

According to Reuters, the parties discussed matters related to the Strait of Hormuz, nuclear issues, reparations, sanctions, and conflict resolution. It was previously reported that a future agreement could be based on a ten-point plan proposed by the Islamic Republic.
