CENTCOM: U.S. deploys over 10,000 troops to blockade Iranian ports
The U.S. Armed Forces have deployed more than 10,000 troops, over 10 ships, and several dozen aircraft to enforce a blockade of Iran's seaports.
This was stated in a release by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
"More than 10,000 American sailors, marines, and airmen, along with over a dozen ships and dozens of aircraft, are carrying out a mission to prevent cargo vessels from entering Iran's seaports," the statement noted.
The command added that, following orders from U.S. military authorities, at least six commercial vessels altered their course and returned to port within the first 24 hours after the blockade was announced. The statement emphasized that the blockade regime applies to all maritime vessels regardless of their flag.
Earlier, the head of U.S. Central Command stated that American forces had successfully blockaded Iran's ports.
