Teacher killed in Kahramanmaraş school attack protected students from assailant
The teacher who died in the attack on a school in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaraş, Ayla Kara, was protecting students from the assailant, reports the AHaber channel.
"In the incident, mathematics teacher Ayla Kara lost her life while shielding her students," the report states.
On April 15, an eighth-grade student at a school in Kahramanmaraş brought five weapons and seven magazines of ammunition to the school and opened fire. Eight students and a teacher were killed, and 17 others were injured. The assailant took his own life.
