Israel continues strikes on southern Lebanon after temporary truce takes effect

Israel carried out airstrikes on the towns of al-Khiyam and Dibbin in southern Lebanon, despite the implementation of a 10-day temporary truce.

According to a report by the Lebanese official news agency NNA, despite the ceasefire that came into effect at midnight, Israel continued its bombardments of two towns in southern Lebanon.

In a statement released shortly after the truce began, it was reported that Israeli bombardments of the towns of al-Khiyam and Dibbin are ongoing following the implementation of the ceasefire. It was also noted that "intense activity of unmanned aerial vehicles is being recorded in the area of the town of Rashaya and on the western slopes of Mount Jabal al-Sheikh (Hermon) (in the southeast)."

Information regarding the consequences of the bombardments, including possible material damage or casualties, has not yet been provided.

The Israeli side has not made an official statement on the matter at this time.

US President Donald Trump previously stated that the parties had reached an agreement on a 10-day ceasefire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in turn, confirmed the acceptance of the truce, noting that Israeli forces will continue to remain in the occupied areas of southern Lebanon.
