Israeli Foreign Minister apologizes to Christians
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar apologized to Christians for a statue of Jesus Christ damaged by an IDF soldier.
He wrote about this on his Telegram channel:
"The damage to a Christian religious symbol by an IDF serviceman in southern Lebanon is a serious and shameful incident.
I highly appreciate the IDF's statement, its condemnation of the incident, and the investigation into this matter. I am confident that the necessary strict measures will be taken against the person who committed this despicable act.
This disgraceful action completely contradicts our values. Israel is a country that respects various religions and their sacred symbols, and also promotes tolerance and respect between faiths.
We apologize for this incident and to all Christians whose feelings have been hurt."
Earlier, Israeli military authorities launched an investigation after a photograph surfaced on social media showing an Israeli soldier damaging a statue of the crucified Jesus Christ in southern Lebanon.
