Hakan Fidan: US and Iran actually want to end the war
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that there are many complex aspects in the negotiation process between the US and Iran, but both sides want to end the war.
"Negotiations have quite complex aspects. But I want to tell you about the positive moments. Both sides actually want to end the war. They want to open the Strait of Hormuz, solve the problem with the blocked ships. That is their position and intentions. The problem is how to formulate and put it on paper so that the parties can accept it. Currently, the exchange of messages between the parties continues," Fidan said in Qatar at a press conference with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
Returning to war, according to Fidan, "will only increase the destruction." "Preventing the use of the Strait of Hormuz as a weapon is extremely important for regional security, stability, and for the world economy. In this regard, we support all efforts to ensure safe passage and prevent a return to the current situation in the future. We are participating in these efforts, and our priority is a peaceful and diplomatic solution," Fidan noted.
