The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is carrying out coordination work with relevant structures of the country and foreign states in connection with the death of Azerbaijani citizens as a result of a drone attack on ships in the Azov Sea.

This was stated by the head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ayhan Hajizade.

On the night of June 5, two foreign cargo ships, whose crews included a total of 25 Azerbaijani citizens, were attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles: "We would like to note that the said ships do not belong to the Azerbaijani state. According to information received from the Russian side, 5 Azerbaijani citizens were killed as a result of the attack, and another 3 were injured. The victims were taken to a hospital in the city of Yeisk."

"Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is carrying out coordination work on this issue with relevant state bodies, diplomatic missions of our country, as well as with the authorized bodies of the relevant countries. Several employees of our embassy in Russia have gone to the scene of the incident. Issues regarding the condition of our citizens, their return to the country, and the provision of necessary consular assistance are in the center of attention," emphasized Ayhan Hajizade.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expresses deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
