Ronaldo becomes the first footballer in history to score goals at six World Cups
Portugal national team forward Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the match of the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup against Uzbekistan.
On the sixth minute of the match, the 41-year-old footballer sent the ball into the goal after a cross from defender Joao Cancelo.
Thus, Ronaldo became the first player in history to score goals at six FIFA World Cups. Cristiano scored his debut goal at the World Cup in 2006, after which he also distinguished himself at the 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
In total, Ronaldo now has nine goals in 24 matches at the World Cups. He has never won the world championship as part of the Portugal national team.
At the 2026 World Cup, Ronaldo and Argentine Lionel Messi became the first players in history to participate in six World Cups. At the same time, Messi scored at five World Cups — in South Africa 2010 he was unable to score a single goal.
