"Lankaran": Azal receives first Airbus A321neo - PHOTO

As 1news.az reports, a solemn ceremony to transfer the first Airbus A321neo aircraft to Azerbaijan’s national carrier Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) was held in Hamburg.

The event began with a press conference and a media tour of the Airbus production complex in Hamburg (Germany), during which journalists were introduced to the enterprise’s production facilities and the main stages of assembling modern passenger aircraft.

Airbus representatives demonstrated the technological processes used in the production of A320 family aircraft and spoke about the innovations being implemented and quality standards.

After the familiarization program, the official ceremony of handing over the first Airbus A321neo to AZAL took place.

Welcome speeches were delivered by Airbus A320 Family executive vice president Christoph Zammert, Airbus vice president for sales in Eastern Europe and Central Asia Charbel Youssef Youskatli, AerCap senior vice president and head of EMEA John Gowan, CFM Airbus programs general manager Bruno Castola, and Azerbaijan Airlines commercial director Jamil Manizade.

During the ceremony, guests were shown a video about the creation of the A321neo aircraft, after which the official handover of the aircraft and the presentation of commemorative awards took place.

The new aircraft was named “Lankaran” after one of Azerbaijan’s picturesque regions.

After the official part, participants inspected the new airliner and took commemorative photographs in front of it.

The Airbus A321neo is one of the most modern narrow-body aircraft in the world. The aircraft features high fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and increased passenger comfort.

The “Lankaran” aircraft will be the first Airbus A321neo in AZAL’s fleet and will be used for the airline’s international flights.
