Karabakh announces signing of Latvian defender Dzebrails Makreckis
Azerbaijani football club Karabakh, continuing its transfer campaign ahead of the 2026/27 season, has completed the signing of another newcomer.
The club's press service announced the successful conclusion of negotiations with Hungarian side Ferencvaros, as a result of which Latvian defender Dzebrails Makreckis has joined the team.
The 26-year-old player has signed a three-year contract. He will play for Karabakh until the summer of 2029 and will wear the number 25.
Born in Germany, Makreckis is a product of Bayer Leverkusen's youth academy. Over the course of his professional career, he has also played for Bonner, Borussia Dortmund, Viktoria Berlin, and Bulgarian club Pirin Blagoevgrad. In 2018, the defender represented the Latvia U-19 national team.
It is noted that Dzebrails Makreckis has become Karabakh's eighth new signing in the summer transfer window. The team's squad had previously been bolstered by Zhali Muaddib, Zakaria Savo, Samuel Lobato, Bruno Langa, Martin Zlomislic, Renaldo Sefas, and Bence Varkonyi.
