Number of earthquake victims in Venezuela rises to 3.5 thousand

The number of those killed as a result of the devastating earthquake that occurred in Venezuela on June 24 amounted to 3,535 people.

Chairman of the National Assembly (parliament) of the Bolivarian Republic Jorge Rodriguez in his Telegram channel provided the number of those killed and injured by the natural disaster, and also spoke about the actions of the authorities to rescue and provide assistance.

According to the daily government report, 16,740 people were injured, 17,854 people lost their homes, 190 buildings were completely destroyed, 856 received significant damage. During search and rescue operations, 6,462 people were saved, 25,016 people received treatment in hospitals and medical institutions, assistance was provided to 86,794 families, 9,603 tons of food were transferred to the victims.

The earthquake occurred in Venezuela on the evening of June 24. With an interval of about 40 seconds, two series of tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded. Their epicenters were located 10 km apart in the Venezuelan state of Yaracuy.
