Suspect in murder of Azerbaijani citizen detained in Batumi
In the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, at Batumi International Airport, a suspect in the intentional murder of an Azerbaijani citizen was detained.
This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on its Facebook page.
It is noted that the detention of the accused was carried out in conditions of close cooperation with Turkish and Azerbaijani colleagues, as well as with the direct participation of the police attaché of Georgia in Turkey. According to the information, on June 27 of this year, in a rented apartment in Tbilisi, the accused inflicted life-threatening injuries on his relative, as a result of which the latter died at the scene. The police quickly identified the person who committed the crime and put him on the wanted list.
An investigation is underway into this fact under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for intentional murder under aggravating circumstances. This article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
It is noted that earlier the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia brought charges in absentia in this case against Azerbaijani citizen Emin Aliyev.
He was accused of the intentional murder of Azerbaijani citizen Fatima Kerimova on the grounds of gender. This person was put on the wanted list.
