IRGC names conditions for opening Strait of Hormuz

Iran will open the Strait of Hormuz as soon as the United States stops interfering in the affairs of the transport corridor, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Armed Forces) of Iran stated.

“The only way to open Hormuz for navigation is to respect the sovereignty of countries over their own coastal waters and stop the intervention of the US army in the affairs of the strait,” the IRGC statement said.

The Guards Corps also noted that continued interference will lead to “even larger” events for the global oil and gas sector.

American troops have carried out several series of attacks on Iran since July 8. The US Armed Forces Central Command claimed that this was done allegedly in response to Iran's actions against commercial vessels that were crossing the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian troops responded with strikes on US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.
