Does the US have enough ammunition for a war with Iran? Trump responds to rumors

U.S. President Donald Trump denied reports that a shortage of ammunition, including air defense missiles, was one of the reasons for refusing to resume full-scale hostilities against Iran.

The Wall Street Journal reported this.

"We have far more ammunition than anyone else in the world, and far more than we need," the president told the publication, commenting on such information.

On July 25, The New York Times, citing sources, reported that the U.S. president decided to postpone intensifying the military operation against Iran to avoid further depletion of American stockpiles of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems and ammunition for other air defense systems in the Middle East. During a meeting on July 24, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Armed Forces Dan Caine warned that the command could resume large-scale hostilities against Iran, but in that case, interceptor stocks would reach a dangerously low level.

The latest escalation of the U.S.-Iran conflict began on July 8. For the first time since the signing of the memorandum between Washington and Tehran, U.S. armed forces carried out several series of strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic, allegedly in response to an attack on a merchant vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. On the same day, Trump announced the end of the ceasefire with Iran. In response, Tehran began striking U.S. facilities in the Middle East located in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman. On July 24, the sides ceased exchanging strikes.
