Russia threatens Moldovan authorities
Russia will respond to any unfriendly initiatives by the Moldovan authorities; the response will not necessarily be symmetrical.
This was stated to Izvestia by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Russian diplomatic department noted that it is unknown what initiatives Chisinau plans to implement "at the behest of Western curators."
"It is clear that all these measures are aimed at breaking mutually beneficial ties with our country. It is also obvious that they will all receive an adequate, not necessarily symmetrical response," the department added.
On July 21, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Moldovan ambassador to the country, Lilian Darii. The reason for the summons was two incidents involving employees of the Moscow embassy in Chisinau. On July 19, Moldovan law enforcement officers stopped the diplomatic mission's bus under the pretext of checking documents, and then, without any explanation, removed the diplomatic registration plates from it. According to the Russian side, force was used against the outraged Russian diplomats, and they were also threatened with detention.
