New UK prime minister addresses Russia
The United Kingdom will continue to support Ukraine and will not back down until achieving a "lasting and just peace," UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said ahead of a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Sky News reports.
Burnham stressed that Moscow "should not doubt" London's determination. According to him, the United Kingdom remains on Ukraine's side, and British support for Kyiv is unwavering in character.
The meeting between Burnham and Zelensky is to take place at a British naval base. For the Ukrainian president, it will be his first visit to the new head of the British government after he took office.
In January 2025, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a hundred-year partnership agreement. The document covers military and economic cooperation, as well as issues of energy, technology, and information security.
In June, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, after negotiations with Zelensky, announced plans to increase military support for Kyiv, including the production of interceptors and the development of anti-missile and long-range capabilities. Moscow condemns Western arms supplies to Ukraine.
