US supports Chad's decision to withdraw from the ICC
The United States supports the decision of the government of Chad to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) and considers it a step toward strengthening the sovereignty of the republic.
This is stated in a statement by the US State Department.
"The US welcomes Chad's decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court and to join the growing number of countries that are restoring their sovereignty by rejecting this flawed organization," the statement says.
The department emphasized that the US will continue to wage a global campaign against the ICC. The State Department also called on all other states that remain members of the organization to leave it.
On Monday, the Chad Foreign Ministry announced the country's withdrawal from the International Criminal Court. The republic's foreign ministry justified this decision by the organization's bias.
On July 13, the State Department reported that the US is launching a large-scale campaign against the ICC with the aim of neutralizing what Washington sees as a "threat to American sovereignty" emanating from it.
