Finland closes part of its maritime and airspace due to drone threat

Finnish authorities have closed part of their airspace and maritime space due to the threat of drones.

This was reported by the broadcasting company Yle.

According to its information, the Finnish Armed Forces introduced restrictions in the airspace and maritime space in the area of the cities of Kotka and Hamina. The restriction was caused by precautionary measures due to Ukrainian drone attacks on the Russian Federation. The measures came into force after 8:00.

The Finnish Armed Forces General Staff told Yle that the restrictions are being introduced to enable shooting down drones if they appear on the territory of the republic.
