Iran declares shipping in Hormuz impermissible without Tehran's permission
Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz, and no movement through it is possible without the permission of the Iranian military.
This was stated by the chief of staff of the Islamic republic's army, Habibollah Sayyari.
"No movement in the Strait of Hormuz will be carried out without the permission of the Iranian army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)," Iranian media quoted Sayyari as saying.
On July 8, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the ceasefire reached with Iran on the night of June 18 was no longer in effect. After that, the American military carried out several series of strikes on the territory of the Islamic republic. U.S. Central Command claimed that these actions were a response to Tehran's actions against commercial vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Iran struck American bases in a number of Middle Eastern countries. Tehran also accused Washington of violating the memorandum on the cessation of hostilities.
