CPC reports drone attack on two more tankers near Black Sea terminal

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) has reported another drone attack on two tankers near its terminal outside Novorossiysk, as a result of which oil loading has again been halted, the company's press service said.

According to the statement, on the night of Thursday the tanker "NIFFOS SIFNOS" flying the flag of the Marshall Islands (the shipper is Tengizchevroil LLP), which was loading oil at CPC's single point mooring SPM-3, came under attack, as a result of which a fire broke out on the cargo deck; it was extinguished by the tanker's crew with the participation of three CPC auxiliary vessels. There were no injuries or casualties among CPC employees or those of contracting organizations, and no oil spill occurred. The tanker remained afloat, and damage is being assessed. Meanwhile, oil loading is currently halted, while the pipeline facilities are operating as normal.

In addition, in territorial waters 6 nautical miles from the CPC marine terminal, the tanker MARATHI flying the flag of the Isle of Man, which was en route to take on oil, was also attacked.
