Mark Zuckerberg: 'AI should expand people's capabilities, not replace them'

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg published a column titled "The AI Future Is for Everyone" in The Wall Street Journal, in which he laid out his vision for the development of artificial intelligence.

In his view, AI technologies should become a tool that helps people unlock their potential rather than replace them at work.

Mark Zuckerberg believes that the widespread scenario according to which artificial intelligence will lead to the mass disappearance of jobs is not inevitable. Instead, he proposes the concept of "personal AI" — an intelligent assistant that will be available to every person. Such an assistant will be able to help with learning, work, starting one's own business, programming, scientific research, health care, and everyday tasks, increasing a person's productivity rather than displacing them. According to the head of Meta, the main value of AI lies not in automating human labor, but in giving people more opportunities to create new products, services, and ideas.

M. Zuckerberg devoted separate attention to the issue of the accessibility of artificial intelligence. He stated that Meta intends to continue adhering to a strategy of distributing its AI developments as widely as possible.

According to him, open access to modern artificial intelligence models fosters innovation, strengthens competition, and reduces the cost of technology, whereas their concentration in the hands of a small number of companies could slow the industry's development.

The head of Meta also emphasized that in the future artificial intelligence should become an accessible tool for billions of people, rather than a privilege of a limited circle of large corporations. It is precisely this approach, in his opinion, that will allow the technology to bring maximum benefit to society and accelerate the emergence of new solutions in a wide variety of fields — from education to entrepreneurship.
