Turkish firefighters have brought 110 of 115 wildfires under control in two days.

This was reported by Turkey's Minister of Agriculture Ibrahim Yumakli.

"Since yesterday we have been fighting 115 fires across the country, 69 of which were outside forest areas. 110 fires have been completely brought under control," the minister said on the TRT Haber television channel.

According to him, fires have been brought under control in the Kumluca district of Antalya, and in the Edremit and Ayvacik districts in western Turkey. Firefighters also managed to reduce the intensity of the wildfire in the Fethiye district of the Mediterranean province of Mugla, where efforts to extinguish it the previous evening were hampered by winds of 84 km/h. Efforts are being made to bring under control forest fires in the Gomec district of Balikesir province, Kas in Antalya, and Seydikemer in Mugla, which has not been extinguished for a second day, the minister said. "We hope for good news from these three districts," Yumakli noted.

According to him, 21 airplanes, 59 helicopters, and significant ground equipment forces are involved in fighting the forest fires in southern and western Turkey.
