Media: more than 900 people involved in human trafficking arrested in the U.S. during the 2026 World Cup

Officers of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) arrested more than 900 people suspected of human trafficking during the World Cup held in June and July.

This was reported by the Fox News television channel, citing a representative of the department.

As the ministry indicated, law enforcement officers launched a series of operations aimed at ensuring the security of the championship's events and at identifying organized criminal groups. As part of these operations, DHS officers also freed about 180 people who were being illegally held by criminals. This includes 30 minors.

The World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico took place from June 11 to July 19. For the first time, 48 teams took part in the tournament. Spain's national team became the winner.
