FT: Trump has changed his mind about giving Ukraine Patriots

U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with the Financial Times that he is "not sure" whether Ukraine should be granted a license to produce Patriot missiles.

This contradicts his own statement made at the NATO summit in Ankara just two weeks ago.

"This is very unusual weaponry, and we need to be careful about who we issue licenses to. We essentially do not issue licenses for equipment," Trump said.

According to the U.S. president, his main goal is not arming Ukraine but ending the conflict. At the same time, he confirmed that his special envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff will visit Kyiv for the first time in the coming days.

"It's very simple: we want Ukraine's war with Russia to end. I'm not looking for missiles. We are looking for peace," Trump said.

Earlier, Zelensky reported that he had discussed with Trump licenses for the production of interceptors for Patriot systems and the intensification of the diplomatic process. He also met with representatives of the defense company Lockheed Martin, which produces ATACMS, HIMARS, F-16s and missiles for Patriot systems.
