26 kg of drugs in luggage: A pilot from Malaysia detained in Indonesia
A Malaysian pilot was arrested at the airport in Jakarta (Indonesia) with more than 70,000 ecstasy tablets weighing a total of 26 kg hidden in his suitcase.
This was reported by Indonesian media citing an officer of the airport's customs administration.
The 39-year-old pilot was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport shortly after arriving from Kuala Lumpur. Customs officers noticed something suspicious during an X-ray inspection of the luggage, and during the search they found the prohibited substances.
"The results of the drug test on his body confirmed that while flying the plane he was under the influence of stimulants," the administration officer noted.
The pilot has now been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department of Indonesia's National Police for further investigation and clarification of the circumstances of the case.
